Sweet band recommendation-Shapeshifter

All throughout my middle school and high school life I've been a metalhead.  Heck, to this day I'm still a sucker for the blast beat.  Metal is, and will always be a part of my life.  However, over the last year or so, i've really been diggin' the more electronic genre's.  At first it was just a few youtube videos on the favorites list that would get a listen every so often, but i really don't have any friends into the electronic scene (and still don't come to think of it).  But over the last few month's i've gotten really into it, downloading albums and whatnot, looking up artists, and doing my homework on this stuff.  My electo collection is still pitiful compared to the metal in my music library, but it's growing ever so slowly and steadily.  I've been getting into D&B, House, and even Dubstep (oh god, he listens to dubstep, what a fucking TOOL.  I bet he's never had a girlfriend, and likes Justin Bieber!)

One artist in particular who I've really taken a liking to is Shapeshifter.  About 2 years ago (specifically August of 09) me and a buddy stumbled upon a youtube video with a mysteriously catchy track in the background.  We pretty much put that video on loop for like a week straight, but the video didn't have any credits for the song, and the poster didn't check his account or reply to comments.  (Naturally, half the comments were something along the lines of "WUT SONG IS DIS?").  2 years later I finally stumbled upon the track again, source included, and promptly downloaded all of these guys's albums (at least every one I could find.).  Then for the next month I listened to nothing but Shapeshifter.  In the car, while'st studying,...anywhere else I listen to music.  And i must say, goodness gracious, they are something else.  There's something about them that just stands out above the crowd.  I just want to get up and dance (but i don't, because i'm a white boy from suburbia with no swag).  So anywho, here's a little sneak peek of their stuff.  Maybe you'll like it, maybe not.

And if you liked that, check out their super rad website for more music.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas various followers!  I drew you this sick nasty Christmas card to celebrate Jesus's birthday!
If your wondering why it looks like absolute garbage, it's a combination of me having virtually no artistic merit whatsoever, and the fact that I only brought my netbook home for winter break.  I don't know if you've ever worked on a netbook before, but if you're trying to do anything that isn't facebook, it's kind of a bitch because of the whole micro-sized screen.  Combined with the super-sensitive travel mouse, it makes for a very poor work environment.  But i did the best i could, so be happy and accept my card.  I made it with love.  Now get the hell off your computer, and go spend time with your family.  It's freaking CHRISTMAS.
(if you're an orphan, or adopted, or for some reason, have no family, i'm sorry for pointing out the elephant in the room.  Please don't be sad.  I'm sorry.)

Things and stuff 2.0: The blogs new old direction.

I just went from well over 100 followed, to 21 blogs followed, and i'm probably gonna weed out a few of those. While going through every individual blog, I got to thinking about what direction I wanted this to go in.  I was following everything from Battlefield 3 press release blogs, to how to solve a rubix cube (that's right.  An entire blog dedicated to it.  Why in the hell was i following that?).  Then after an hour or so of mindless deleting, I realized what I want out of this blog.  Really it should have been obvious, as it's in the freaking title "Things and stuff".  I don't want to write a specialty blog on minecraft, or LoL, or press releases, or Rubix cubes.  I just want to write random shit about my life.  So to all my followers, if you find yourself bored with the content of this blog over the next few weeks, i encourage you to unfollow me.  Because I didn't make this blog to get the biggest number of followers I could.  I made it so I could have a refuge away from tumblr, and facebook, and all the people I know from the real world to just talk about stuff.  Not necessarily a place to whine about my innermost feelings or anything (though you longtime followers know i do tend to bitch and moan quite a bit, deal wit it), but just a place to post where i don't have to worry about "selling myself" so to speak.  On tumblr and facebook i'm constantly thinking about what the people reading what i post are going to think of me.  I have to worry about social standards, and peoples opinions about me.  Here, i really don't give two fucks.  I can do whatever i want.
So yeah.  Welcome to Things and Stuff 2.0, enjoy your stay.
Or don't.  Your call  :D

(ps. if i unfollowed your blog, don't get offended.  I had over 100 blogs on my list, there was a point where i just started unfollowing for the sake of unfollowing.)

Wow, look at this kid, what a freaking FAILURE.

I know.  I've left this blog neglected out in the rain, all whiles't just watching it die.  My last 4 or 5 posts were just youtube videos (granted, they were awesome youtube videos, but still), and I've pretty much lost my entire follower base.  After sitting around a few days at home for winter break, I've really had the urge to try and salvage this blog (if anyone even reads it).  For starters, i'm going to go through my followed list, and delete every dead blog, and blog I don't have an interest in.  When I first made this page, my initial thought was "well gee, i'll just follow everyone, that way i'll have tons of followers, and my blog will be the CAT'S PJ'S."  In reality what happened was I followed a bunch of shitty blogs, so now I can't keep track of anything I actually want to read.  So after cutting my feed down to the bare bones of people I actually care about, i'm going to try to post more.  It's tough what with school, and my 3 year old attention span, but I think I can make it work.  There will probably still be youtube videos, and there probably always will be, but from now on i'll try to slip some content on the side to give this blog some meat.

Mmmm. Meat.
Hot damn, it's 11:11, make a wish!

Rustie - Surph

This song is terribly annoying and peppy.  Who in their right mind would want to listen to this song?
2 days later: Why can I not stop listening to this fucking song?  It's BEAUTIFUL.

I also heard the artist is only like 12 years old or something.  Kinda makes me feel like a complete failure, nbd.

Update on how i'm doing in college:  Pretty alright.  Currently failing chem and algebra, even with tutoring, and other help from people.  My other classes are going alright, but these two are going to freaking destroy me.  Seems like there's just never enough hours in the day anymore too.  I miss sleeping in, or having time to write out a shitty blog.  <3

Homework suucksss D:

I freaking hate my classes.  I'm taking 4 chem classes (lab, regular class, and 2 rec periods) math, history, political science, and technical writing.  Out of those 8 classes, aprox. 0 of them are any fun at all.  Chem is superfucking hard, my math teacher's borderline retarded (i had to get a tutor) and the rest is just freaking boring.  I suppose i'll just have to trudge through this semester until i can get some interesting classes in.  :<

This is a blog about how awesome i am.

I am awesome

Second on the agenda, I'm a college student now.  And it rocks.  I love this place, everyone's super nice, and there's always new friends to be made.  The homework fucking sucks, and all my classes are pretty lame core stuff, but whatever.  I'll live.  My NEW (funny story, i'll write about it sometime) roommate is super quiet and awkward, so we don't really talk much.  Kinda odd how that worked out, since i used to be the stereotypical quiet awks dood, and now i'm the outgoing one of the duo.  I'm sure it'll get better.  Anyways, i'm going to go work on this mountain of homework.  kbye.

This is the title of the blog i am posting.

Sorry i haven't posted in like a month or so.  I've been fairly preoccupied.  Today was my last day of work.  It's kinda a bittersweet thing.  I'm out of that shithole, but i'm also without income now.  Plus some of my co-workers were actually tolerable.  In less than 48 hours i'll be moving into my new dorm room.  I've talked to my roommate over facebook, and text, and he seems like a nice guy, but i have yet to meet him in person.  I'm excited to get out of this house, and get out on my own (sort of) but of course there's a bit of nerves too.  About moving to a new place, living with some stranger, and dealing with much tougher classes than i've been dealing with (you can pass most community college courses with a pulse, and a means of transportation)  None of it has really hit me yet.  I don't feel like i'm moving.  I don't feel like there's a huge change coming up.  Then again, last time I moved i didn't feel like I was moving.  (Come to think of it, not many things really effect me.  I just kinda roll with the punches and mindlessly go about my business.  That in itself has some pros and cons.  But i digress)
Usually at this point of my post, i'd go off track and ramble about something for a few paragraphs (in this case, about how i roll with the punches, etc), then promise i'll start posting more often, but it's past 5 AM and i actually have to wake up tomorrow to get shit done.
So yea.  Thanks for putting up with my shit-tier blog schedule (or lack there of one.)  I'll write again soon enough.
Edit: Wow.  You can really tell this post was rushed.  Next time i'll work a bit harder before clicking publish.  Gnight all.

Mmmm grill. Check out 'dem bunz.

I didn't really have a blog topic today (as usual) so I figured i'd rant (as usual) about something that's been bothering me for the last year or so.

I just recently passed my summer school course i mentioned in previous blogs with an A.  I find this both exhilarating, as it will raise my GPA, and a tad disheartening at the same time.  I say this because I quite literally did not pay attention to a single lecture after day one.  My "fuck yeah, i'm gonna do great this semester" attitude gave way to my inability to pay attention to things i don't care about.  By day two I had my netbook out for all four hours of class surfing facebook, checking up on forums, reading blogs, and other things of the sort.  Yet i managed to pull an A after 3 tests, 3 500 word essays, and 3 quizzes.  So why's that disheartening?  I mean don't get me wrong, I really don't mind getting a 4.0 semester with a class I couldn't give less of a shit about.

The ultimate time wasting tool: The Netbook.

Really, I just feel like it was a waste of time.  I mean, I should be learning about things that are actually going to benefit my career path in college?  I should be learning about the things I intend on spending the rest of my life working on.  That's the entire reason i'm attending in the first place right?  Thus far I've taken 3 summer school courses, and two full semesters of courses at my community college, not a single course relating to my major.  They've all be core classes.  But wasn't that what high school was for?  These core requirements are ridiculous, 2 English classes, humanities, speech, music appreciation?  I'm pretty sure that was covered in the other 12 years of schooling I have under my belt.  Are these bogus requirements just there for the colleges to make more money, or what?  My British literature/English 2 professor told us an interesting take on this issue once.  He said that in his eyes, and the staffs eyes, college isn't just a place to learn job skills.  It's also a place where you learn life skills.  And to an extent I can see what he means.  Speech is intended to help people interact with others better.  However, I took speech in high school, so i suppose that's already taken care of isn't it?  Music appreciation isn't intended to teach me anything work related.  It's supposed to teach me about music, and (apparently) how to appreciate it.  But i don't care that they want to teach me these "life skills".  I'm not there for that.  I'm there to learn about work skills.  I can learn life skills on my own (free) time.  I mean, i can see what they are going for with music appreciation, but that class was utterly worthless to me.  I already have a deep appreciation for music of several genre's and time periods.  I didn't need to pay for a class to sit in for that.  It's just a waste of my time, along with a boost to my GPA.  Perhaps my attitude will change next year, when i go off to attend a 4 year university and start taking more major specific courses, but as of now, i just don't understand it. (and by "don't understand it" I mean I think they should stop wasting my time and money with it.)

A very interesting read.

A while back before I discovered blogger, I made a tumblr account.  At first it was quite enjoyable, like a facebook type place where i could write long winded thoughts and things outside the view of my friends.  I quickly found that in reality tumblr is pretty much a place where hipster scene kids go to reblog pictures of scene girls, cupcakes, their shitty camera phone photography, overused memes, and more scene girls.  Note how i say reblog.  Meaning 99% of the content on my feed isn't even originally from the person posting it.  Why the hell would i follow you if you aren't going to post any shit of your own?  That's all fine and dandy, but I don't really care about most of those things (Scene girls are okay, but i don't want to look at re-blogged pictures of things you care about all day.).  That being said, every month or so i'll wander back onto tumblr to see what the few people I do follow have posted.  Most of it is uninteresting to me, but tonight I read a link one of my old friends posted.

It's one hell of a long read, but it's really interesting.  It's some guy talking about his experience after being in prison for 2 years for armed robbery.  He talks about how it's like, how his interactions with other inmates/staff go, how his family and friends reacted, how he coped, and described just how differently the media, and general public depict prison, as opposed to the reality.  He talks about his drug use, and how he blew his cellmate.  There's really no benefit from reading this (for me at least) because I wasn't really keen on becoming a felon anyways, but that was surely incentive to not fuck my life up (plus I don't want to blow any cellmates.)

I'm back bitches! (yet again.)

While writing my post the other night, it dawned on me why i don't regularly blog.  That post bitching and moaning about California legislation easily took me over an hour to write.  You see, i'm actually a terrible writer.  Because of this, whenever i type out a blog, or forum post, I generally proofread it about fifty thousand times, just to make sure i don't make myself look like an illiterate fool.  I re-word things, I re-re word things, then i re-re-re-re-re word things until i'm reasonably satisfied with the result.  Hell, i just re-wrote that last sentence about me re-writing things.  Because of my obsessive need to be sure I don't look like a retard in front of people I don't actually know, it takes a significant amount of time to write blog posts.  And as you may or may not know by now, i'm quite lazy, and would much rather do other things during my off time.  Like play video games.  Or eat waffles.

I find reading blogs is more interesting if they have pictures in them.  Therefore my blog is now interesting.  This is my dog, fluffeh butt.  He died like 2 years ago, but he was the coolest dog in the history of forever.

On a somewhat related note, the careful observer may notice my most recent post before this was under a week ago, which means i'm actually going to start updating this blog again.  You see, my manager wasn't too happy to learn about my plans of leaving for college next month (apparently he expected me to stay at that dead end job for the rest of my life like everyone else who works there.  Sorry, I have a goal to not be a total failure in life.).  In retaliation, he has decided to schedule me no more than 3 days a week. (the fact we have 2 more drivers than before may also be a contributing factor too...)  I admit, having 4+ days off every week is quite nice, but my income has also been adequately destroyed... Which is actually kind of a big deal seeing as I won't be bumming everything from my parents after I move out (apparently the real world is super expensive).  But i digress my newfound spare time means I've decided to be more productive.  I've told myself I'm going to continue writing in this fancy little blog of mine, and I seem to be listening to myself this time.  I'm also starting to go jogging with a buddy of mine every other day in an attempt to whip my sorry ass into shape so i don't die at the ripe age of 27 due to heart failure.  I've also decided i'm going to start practicing drums again, as I pretty much stopped completely when I got a girlfriend about two years ago.

So yeah.  Expect at least a blog a week, if not more from now on.  Goodbye now.

SB 798, and why you should hate it.

For those of you reading this who don't know what SB 798 is (my guess is 99 to 100% of my followers), it's a bill attempting to be passed in California to regulate replica firearms (basically, that means airsoft guns, woodsball paintball guns, ect) by making it illegal to own a toy gun painted black.  It would have to be painted a neon color.  Throughout this post I will be defending airsoft over paintball because most people associate paintball with speedball;
Speedball team
a sport where players use "Markers" (not guns) and wear colorful uniforms.  The public is less aware of it's sister sport, woodsball, which is more of a milsim-esque "realistic" game.
Woodsball team

Just because i'm not defending paintball doesn't mean it's not in danger.  Anti-gun legislators hate pretty much anything that shoots anything.  Just wait, they'll try and ban nerf guns soon too.

It all started a while back when some officers ran into three boys playing with airsoft guns (I don't know all the details, but this is the main idea of the story.) The police assumed the airsoft guns were real firearms, and therefore pulled their guns on the boys, and told them to drop their weapons, as they were trained to do.  two of the boys followed the officers orders, and 1 moron pointed his airsoft gun at a cop.  Obviously, the cop fired on the boy as he was trained to do, because he felt his life was in danger at that point.  In a direct reaction to this incident, SB 798 was born.  In theory it sounds great.  Now the officers can identify toy guns and real guns right?  Wrong.  On many levels.  Let me enlighten you.

For starters, there is already a law in place to differentiate real guns from fake guns.  A blaze orange tip no shorter than 1 inch is required by law to be on the front of any toy/replica firearm when sold.

Secondly, nothing is stopping criminals from painting their guns neon colors.  All it takes is a can of Duracoat, and an hour of your time, and you have yourself a hot pink hello kitty killing machine that looks less threatening than a lot of toy guns.
Want the protection and reliability of a Glock, without that awful matte black clashing with your designer purse?  Introducing the new hello kitty marpat paint job! (and yes, that is a real glock.)

If this bill were to be passed, it wouldn't solve the issue it was trying to solve.  It still wouldn't be able to fully differentiate the difference between a real gun, and a fake gun. In fact, this legislation could endanger police officers even more, because now they may assume a legitimate firearm is nothing but a crossman.  And just imagine the public outlash if a police officer accidently shot someone with one of these neon colored toy guns, because he couldn't quite see it, or something of the sort.
So there are some holes in the bill, but what could passing it hurt?  Glad you asked.

Surprisingly, airsoft is a fairly large sport.   Many people are attracted to it over its sister sport paintball (and it's genetically superior cousin, woodsball) for realism (airsoft guns are more true to size than paintball guns due to the smaller projectiles), milsim (military simulation, for both recreational, or training purposes) and cost (a bag of 5000 .2 high quality bbs costs you about 10 dollars.  A box of 2000 paintballs can easily cost 30 dollars).  If that realism aspect of the sport is taken away, it loses its appeal for many players.  Several major airsoft retailers, including Evike, and Airsoft GI are located in California, and this bill passing would mean huge revenue losses, and lost jobs.  Airsoft in California is a 170+ million dollar industry, and as you may or may not have known, California could use some of that tax revenue.

So what have we learned so far?  SB 798 would be an invective solution to the problem it's trying to solve, as there's no solid way to differentiate a toy gun from a real gun during the heat of the moment, especially with custom painted real steel firearms.  This bill is essentially a "feel good bill" where in theory, it sounds like the legislators are doing the right thing, but in reality more harm will be done than good.  Millions of dollars, and tons of jobs.

Also, let's be honest.  If you're dumb enough to point anything that looks like a gun at a law enforcement officer, you deserve to get shot in the teeth for being so fucking stupid.  I mean seriously.  People dumbfound me, and there are people who actually side with the kid who got shot!  The officers did exactly what they were supposed to do, and trained to do.  The kid pulled what he knew the police would assume was a real firearm, and pointed it at them.  That's kinda a big no-no

Luckily, the bill was shot down on a 5 no, 2 yes vote.  Unfortunately, it has been altered to be even more severe (basically treating airsoft guns as actual firearms in legal stuff).  Even though i don't really think it will pass, it's still concerning.

So why do i have such a firm stance on this bill, when I generally remain neutral on pretty much every government issue? (well, not exactly neutral, but I generally don't hold extreme views, and for the most part i empathize with both sides to an extent.)  I live in Texas, so aside from some retailers i buy from being effected, i'd be safe from this feel good bill.  It's because i'm an avid airsofter myself.  Heck, I've easily spent over 500 dollars on the hobby.
Here's a photo of me being a badass at my local airsoft field.  nbd.

And if this bill passes, it's only a matter of time before it spreads to other states.  Sure, it would get to Texas last, what with all of our gun crazy red necks down here :b but it's not something i want to see done to one of my favorite hobbies.  Additionally, a huge pet peeve of mine is people making an opinion about an issue without actually looking at it from both sides, and doing a bit of actual thinking for themselves.  You know who i'm talking about.  Those people who love to spout all this talk about some current issue, repeating the same 3 points they heard on the news earlier. They never bothered to think it over for themselves, or look at it from a different point of view.  And when you challenge them, they've got nothing to back it up.  People need to think for themselves.  Huge pet peve.

How the hell did they miss the guys with moon shoes at 2:53? Hands down coolest guys there.

Saturday, June 25, 2011

I'm a big fat jerkbutt.

I know.  I haven't posted in like 3 weeks.  Why haven't I posted?

  1. I'm a dumbface
  2. I smell bad (that's a blatant lie, I smell amazing, no one can deny it)
  3. The internet connection is incredibly slow at summer school, which means browsing the internet is borderline impossible.
  4. I've recently taken up playing World of Warcraft (Fortunately, my laziness has actually prevented it from taking over my life. "I don't want to run all the way to Orgamar.  I'll just do it tomorrow. /logoff")
  5. Even though my job requires mainly sitting in my car, it still manages to take a lot out of me, which when combined with said laziness means I don't feel like writing blog posts.
  6. I have a surprisingly busy schedule.  With 8 hours of class a week, working part (nearly full) time, homework, procrastination, and other things, i'm really never bored anymore.  And boredom was what first inspired me to start blogging.
  7. I'm adding this because i didn't want to leave off with 6 points.  I prefer the number 7 over 6.
That being said, i think i'm going to start blogging again (though that's not the first time I've said that before, now is it?).  So you can look forward to more posts from me in the near future :D

(Oh, and on a side note, i'm playing WoW on a free private server.  No way i'd actually pay 15 dollars a month for that.)

The CQB Digicam Crossman

Out of boredom i decided I really wanted to try painting a digital camo design, but i didn't want to ruin anything if i messed up.  So i took my old clearsoft crossman P50, dismantled it, sanded it down, and painted a grey base coat on it.  While it was drying I took some graph paper+masking tape and carved out some stencils with an exacto knife.  After my base coat dried, I applied the masks, painted a black layer, then removed the masks.  Here we have the result;

Because I didn't sand it well the masking tape ripped off entire chunks of paint on the barrel, leaving those ugly yellow patches.

As you can see by the pictures, there's a battery pack on the outside.  That's because the inner battery pack (an 8 cell pack located inside the "magazine") just wasn't enough.  So i wired the stock 6 cell battery in parallel.  That's 16.8 volts of power, making this thing an ass whomping bb hose (assuming the gravity fed bbs will even feed fast enough). It's a shame i'll never actually use this thing on the field, it would be great for CQB.  It was a fun project, but unfortunately my local field only allows semi auto to be used indoors, and a crossman just doesn't have the range to be used outside.  Besides, I already have a Classic Army that outperforms this in pretty much every aspect.  I'll probably end up selling it on craigslist for like 50 bucks or so.  (anyone wanna buy it off me? ;D)

(Also, you'll be seeing a few more airsoft related posts soon, seeing as it's my new obsession now that i can actually afford to play)

Don't be a fool, go to school.

I'm currently sitting in my summer school classroom.  Every Tuesday/Thursday for the next 5 weeks i have to wake up at 6:30, shower, get ready, drive to school, and sit in a classroom from 8 to 12 to listen to a lady ramble on about U.S./Texas Government.  There's not even any cute ladies in here! (i'm going to be single forever and die to death alone) Thank god for internet access, and my Netbook.  Without these two things, i would undoubtedly lose my sanity within days.  On the bright side, the class is split between two campuses, with some fancy two way video chat.  My teacher is located on the other campus, and when the powerpoint slideshow is open, she can't see us.  Meaning she can't see all of us not paying any attention/staring off into space.   Which means facebook chat, internet browsing, and most likely a lot of blogs from me over the next 5 weeks :D

On an unrelated note, i asked this once but no one responded; What do you guys think of the blogs text color?  Is the white hard to read?  Whenever I preview posts, it seems like the wall of text is filled with eyestrain, and bad.

Monday, June 6, 2011

Sorry about the continued lack of posts.  I've been busy with work, summerschool is starting, i'm lazy, and i'm lazy.
Anywho, I'm writing this post simply because i'm curious as to how many of my followers play minecraft.  I've been considering getting my server back up and running, and it would be nice to actually play with people (assuming there's no big server lag problems)  So anyone else addicted to this wonderfully simple game?  Anyone interested in joining my server?

A blog about nothing. Then i complain a bit about trivial things.

Remember that time i apologized for not blogging, and promised a blog, then never wrote a blog?  Thanks for not hunting me down and lynching me.  I truly appreciate it. I don't really have anything to blog about tonight, but i felt guilty for not writing anything over the past few days (I've been very busy watching old episodes of scrubs, playing with my toys, and sleeping odd hours of the day away)

Today at work I met lots of new people.  I met the lady at the top of the giant trailer park hill.  Now when i say hill, i mean just that.  A sheer cliff with what looks to be a road leading up it.  Unfortunately this "road" was more of an obsticle course, filled with small chasms, and bumps the size of small pools.  More damage was done to my car on that hill than i made on that delivery.   I know this because she paid in exact change, and I heard some nasty scrapes from the undercarriage of my car.  (on a positive note, i finally found a use for all those lifted trucks i see cruising down the freeway.) I met 3 nice men at "Cowtown RV park" who kindly tipped me negative 57 cents, because my manager doesn't know how to properly schedule enough drivers to distribute the workload enough to get everyones food to it's destination on time.  (obviously the delay was my fault, and my negative tip should be reflective of this, despite my explaining why the pizza was late.)  I also almost got the chance to meet a wealthy man who lives in a gated community.  Unfortunately, after driving 8 miles to his fancy gate, he canceled his order as i pulled in, because "it took too long" (once again, i had no control over this.  In an act of revenge, I took his pizza home and ate it.  It tasted like victory, and wasted gas money.)  So do you guys have any fun work stories?  What did you have for dinner today?

Gears of war 3

Check out my whacky hair, eye makeup, and Afflicted Tee.
Gears of War 3 is coming out here pretty soon, but more importantly, they are releasing a special edition "retro lancer".  At around 100 dollars, it isn't exactly cheap, but i mean... look at it.  It's a three and a half foot long, hand painted blood splater-y work of art!  Who doesn't want that hanging on their wall?  You could stick it right next to this
If the chainsaw was actually operational, i could just sell my lawnmower and use this instead.

If I had the money to spare, i'd totally pick this up!  Unfortunately, I don't even know if i'll be able to afford the game due to my recent purchases, and intent on actually saving up some money this summer for college.  Any of you guys excited for this games release?  Anyone get the sweet pre-order gun?  Anyone want to mail previously mentioned gun to me?

Check out the full Kotaku article here.

Walmart has failed me

Note the lack of sick-assed battle hatchets on this display.
But i will not accept defeat.  I shall return.  I NEED THIS.

Woahwoahwoah. Hold up

Why did no one tell me about this?  I need this.  Hell, i'm going to Walmart right now.  I need this.  I NEED THIS.

Questionable Content

Pintsize kicking ass and taking names.

Questionable Content is a webcomic  written by Jeph Jacques.  It's been updated every weekday since it's premier on August 1st 2003.  It follows the main character Marten Reed, along with his large circle of friends (who get introduced as the story progresses) through all their whacky adventures of everyday life.  The comic contains a lot of music (mainly indie) references, and of course crude sex jokes (cue pintsize).  The illustration at the beginning of the series is really lame low level doodle type stuff, but Jeph quickly develops more skill as the comic goes on (panel 1 vs panel 1928)  Obviously at 1928 pages (and counting) long, it's a bit of a read, but it's well worth it.  I've read the entire series at least 3 times, and for me that's saying something.  It's one of the few webcomics I still keep up with on a daily basis, so go check it out for yourself!

Documentary reccomendation

Metal: A Headbanger's journey is a must see for any fan of metal.  31 year old Sam Dunn (an anthropologist from Canada) travels the world to attempt to answer the question "Why is Metal so popular?"  He goes in depth through the history, subgenres, culture, and other aspects of what makes up the metal scene.  If you enjoy this, he also filmed a follow up documentary "Global Metal" which explores different cultures around the globe, and the impact Metal has on them.  I've watched both, and I must say, they are extremely interesting, and well made.  He managed to get a lot of interviews from some fairly prominent musicians too.  Even if you aren't a fan of metal, it could still be an interesting view if you have an hour or two of time to kill.

The joys of working in fast food.

As you may or may not know, I recently got a job as a delivery driver at a local pizza place.  So far it's gone pretty good (plus if someone backs out of an order, and it's already made, we get free pizza nomz).  Before I can start driving, I have to learn how to take orders over the phone, serve customers, and make pizzas so that in the event where everyone is swamped, and i'm sitting on my ass playing solitaire on my iPod, I can help out.  Week 1 was all about answering the phones/dealing with customers (which is by far the worst, most stress filled role you can work on, especially if you don't know shit.  The phone ring of my store legitimately haunts me in my sleep).  You'd think taking orders would be fairly easy.  The system is straightforward enough.  To make it even easier, I have a fairly strong background in computers, so in theory this should be a walk in the park for me...  But people fucking suck at ordering pizzas.  I'd say about  20% of the calls I get are simple, painless 45 second orders from really nice sounding people.  Then there's about 50% are ether normal nice, or very easily aggravated people who have specific questions such as "how much does x serve" or "I have x coupon, but I forget what it's called, but it may or may not include y, z.  what is that?".  Questions I don't know how to answer, which means a lot of people get put on hold, so I can go ask people who know shit.  Then we get this golden 30% of sheer asshatary that I didn't know existed prior to joining the workforce (that's a blatant lie, I've known stupid assholes my whole life.)  Here's how those calls go.

Hello, thank you for calling asdfjkl;, will this be pick up or delivery?
I'm sorry ma'am, will this be pick up or delivery
Aaaaand can I get your phone number real quick?
UH YEA 999-9999.

Now it's worth noting at this point that the information is taken in this order on every call we get.  It's just the way the software is set up.  you would think that people would catch on, seeing as a lot of people who call in are previous customers, but no.  This bit of seemingly obvious information is lost on them.  But let's give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it's their first time ordering.   Or maybe they get nervous on phone calls, or maybe they were just in a near-miss car accident, and they aren't thinking clearly.  It happens to the best of us. ('cept for the near miss accident part.  I've never ordered pizza directly after a near miss accident)

Alright, Jane dicklicker?  Of 999 pooploop lane?
Alright, what can I get for you?
I'm sorry can you repeat that, I didn't quite catch the first part. -as I frantically punch buttons of the ingredients mentioned that we do have out of that order.-
Yes ma'am, what else can I get for you.
UHHHHHHHHHH. -caller watches a commercial or two- DO YOU HAVE ANY CHEESE STICKS?
Jim stix?
They are the closest thing to cheese sticks we serve here
Which size?
Please hold, I'll go find that out for you real quick
Alright, it serves x amount of people.
Will that be all for you today?
Alright, how will you be paying, cash, check or credit?
Alright, that'll be about 20.45 and it'll be 30 to 45 minutes
Yes ma'am, the pizza is 15, we have a 2 dollar delivery charge, a 50 cent check charge, and then tax
-dial tone-
Never calls back.
The only part I exaggerated on was the overly complicated medium pizza.  Everything else has actually happened to me in my grand total of 4 days working there.  I've been sigh-ed at more times than I can count, yesterday some lady canceled her entire order because she found out there was a 2 dollar delivery charge (after we had started making the pizza mind you.) and my co-worker Duke had to stand at the credit card machine for 6 minutes, because the lady who was reading off her card number decided that the TV was significantly more important than her current pizza-ordering chore.  Yea. That actually happened.

Needless to say, I'm overjoyed to be moving on to the pizza making next week.  Then even more-so the delivery for the rest of the time span I work there.  At that point I get to drive around, get huge tips from really rich people, and spend minimal time around my smelly co-workers...  Who FUCKING REEK.  That's a story for another day though.  I'm sure I'll write a blog about my wonderful co-workers, their debilitating BO, and why it affected me so personally. (and couch-post.  I haven't forgotten about couch-post)

(P.S. not everyone yells into the phone like the caps lock implies.  Some also decide to take the order from across the room, so I can hardly hear them, which means more asking them to repeat themselves, which means more rage directed at me.  Because god forbid I try and get your information right.)

(P.P.S. what do you think of the theme of the blog?  I was proofreading this on the preview page, and the white text was kinda hard on my eyes.  Is that just me, or should i change my layout to be less eye-rape-y)

Does this ever happen to you?

This happened to me yesterday while I was talking to some friends online.  I started out sitting fairly normal, then my body decided normal wasn't good enough.  My body knows better than to bother my very busy brain with complaints about seating, so it decided to just move about on its own, skipping the "consult brain." step.  While I was busy chatting away about how cool I thought hoverboards were, my body was slowly sabotaging me.  Pretty soon both my feet were off the ground, one was almost behind my monitor, and i was typing with 1 hand.  And I found myself thinking "What the fuck am I doing right now?".  After almost falling out of my seat trying to re-establish contact with the ground, i decided to paint a picture, and write a blog post about it.

Why don't you quit while you're ahead

I just started noticing this recently, but it seems like every TV series runs at least twice as long as it should.  Generally, after season 3 or so, things start to go off track, and get annoying.  for example;

Weeds: Weeds is a pretty entertaining show.  I watched season 1-6 in the timespan of about two weeks, and in my opinion, the first 3 or so seasons were great.  Then for some reason, the writers were like "Well, Agrestic is getting kinda lame now, let's burn it down, and start getting Nancy in a retarded amount of deep shit, like drug cartels, and stuff."  The story stops being believable at this point, because in reality I'm sure the cartels would have just killed her long ago for all the stupid shit she does.  I'm pretty sure the writers gave her superpowers, because she makes some of the dumbest decisions ever, yet somehow continues to not die, or kill off her loved ones.  She's the main character, so killing her would be kind of a bad call.  So now we are going to watch Nancy be a shitty parent for 3 more seasons. (that being said, I still watched, and enjoyed the latter 3 seasons, I'm just saying they should have stopped while they were ahead, as the story is only going downhill.)

The Office:  The office was at one point in time a hilarious show, with a fairly interesting back-story.  All the tension between Jim and Pam kept people coming back, and the theme of "working with crazy fuckers, whom you don't like" made a fairly believable show.  Everyone has known a Dwight at some point in time or another, so seeing his reaction to his stapler being encased in jello was a real knee slapper.  However, after Jim and Pam finally got together, I was pretty much over the show.  It would have been perfect if they would have just ended it there.  But no.  Lets continue dragging it out.  It starts going into the same old thing, repeated over and over.  They try and throw more twists in there, but I really don't care that they can't find a good day care center for their child.  I didn't get a chance to watch the entire 6th season, but in all honesty I really have no interest in doing so.  It used to be funny, but now they're just beating a dead horse.

So what do you guys think?  Any other shows I forgot to mention?  Do you think I'm a pessimist who's just full of shit, and complains too much?  What did you have for lunch today?
